Drywall Repair and Patching for Mississauga Homes

Drywall repair in Mississauga is often a crack that keeps coming back. In the subdivisions through Erin Mills, Meadowvale and Churchill Meadows, roof trusses lift slightly in winter and settle again in summer, and the line where the ceiling meets an interior wall opens up every year.

I am Sercan, working on my own from the first look to the last sand. I will tell you honestly which cracks are cosmetic and which are seasonal, and treat them differently, because filling a moving joint with compound alone buys you one winter.

Truss uplift is the local signature. It shows as a clean gap along interior partition walls, usually a hallway or a closet, and it reopens each cold season no matter how carefully it was filled last time. The lasting answer is to release that joint and cover it, rather than locking it with rigid tape and waiting. The other Mississauga regular is the two-storey foyer, where dents and cracks sit high on a stairwell wall and need proper staging on the steps.

How It Runs

From Message to Finished Job

1
Photo of the damage

A picture with something for scale tells me most of it: the size, the texture on the surrounding wall, and whether the board is sound or soft. Add a note about the ceiling height and the paint colour if you know it.

2
Cut back and support

The damaged area is squared off to sound board, the cavity checked for wiring and pipe, and a backing strip or a fitted plug goes in. Nothing gets filled until there is something solid behind it.

3
Tape, coat and sand

Paper tape is bedded into compound over the joints, then two or three thin coats go on, each wider than the last, with drying time between them. Sanding is done with a light raking across the wall so shadows show up.

4
Texture, prime and paint

The surrounding texture is matched, then the patch is primed so it does not flash through the topcoat. Paint is blended into the wall or taken corner to corner where a spot repair would still catch the light.

What Affects the Price in Mississauga

Size and finish move the price more than anything else. A small fill on a flat white wall is quick work. A large hole in a textured ceiling needs backing, several coats with drying time between them, texture matching and paint, which often means a return visit. Access matters, and so does ceiling height. Whether you supply the paint or I bring it makes a difference, and so does how many separate spots there are around the home. The price is agreed before I start cutting.

Nothing starts before the price is agreed. Send a photo or two with your request and I can usually quote without a site visit.

Asked in Mississauga

The crack where my ceiling meets the hallway wall opens every winter. Can that be stopped?

That is truss uplift, and it is common in the newer Mississauga subdivisions. The trusses in the attic arch upward in cold weather and pull the ceiling with them. Filling it again gives you one more season. I would rather free that edge and finish it so the movement is hidden and the ceiling can float, which keeps the line looking right all year.
